Atlantis

We are closing out a week in Atlantis resort in Nassau, or Paradise Island to be exact. The first half of our week was dedicated to Erin’s work meetings with our pest control Associated group. We were staying a few days longer in the form of family vacation.

Weather hasn’t been the best, but it hasn’t been bad. Certainly an upgrade from the snowy/wintry mix of weather back home. Brooks has been a bunch of fun running around and dancing up a storm. He has amused countless others at the resort beyond just us.

Brooks first Christmas Performance

Brooks rang a bell for the children’s Christmas music service this year at church. It was a lot of fun for him. He loved his red bell and knew he had to wait to ring it. Not a small feat for a two year old.

We were/are quite proud of our little man.

Ice Ice Baby

We had some investment friends give us some tickets to ICE at Opry Mills this week. All we had to do was watch a short sales video. ICE is cool, literally & figuratively. Brooks walking around was our highlight and especially the full size parka he had to wear.

Family Reunion 2011 & Young Reception

We have had a whirlwind of a weekend going down the grandpa’s farm for the Richardson family reunion. We got down for the fish fry which was held a few hours earlier due to some important football game, the result of which we will not discuss here. Good times hanging with the family. Skipped the actual reunion part to make it to our friend Davey’s Alabama wedding reception. It was good to meet his wife Lindsey again (met her a few years back when they were dating while we were both in Dallas). She looked great and and Davey looked much like Davey should. The kiddos had a blast playing together. A few photos:

Jackson Orchard

Today we spent the day at Jackson Orchard with a few close friends & their children, who happen to be close friends with Brooks. We had a great time playing on their playground area, petting & feeding various animals (Brooks liked the baby pigs), picking a pumpkin, slurping down some apple cider slushy (dad went for seconds), running from a rain storm, chasing down quick children, and having an overall good time.

Worship Art

Erin was a part of Rehobeth UMC’s worship service Sunday doing her worship arts painting. She had not done this in quite a few years so it was really exciting and a little nerve racking. She did great, as you might expect, and the folks there were very appreciative.

Day at the Aquarium

We spent the day with some of our friends who have kids the same age as Brooks (they’d be our friends regardless of, it is just easier) on a road trip to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. We saw lots of cool fish, pet some stingrays, searched for some butterflies and more. We then played outside & walked across the pedestrian bridge to Coolidge Park to rid the Carousel & play in the grass some more. A little dinner after the walk back & some dancing to the music on the river and we were headed home… Exhausted..

Brooks Birthday Bash!

Our little man had his official 2 Years Birthday today. We had it at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville which has a cool indoor playground/climbing thing that goes up two stories. Their party staff was excellent to us as well. Brooks was excited with the Thomas the Train theme as well, it’s his favorite these days.

Hanging with Disciples

Was invited to come share at a Disciples of Christ General Assembly session here in Nashville. Got to meet up with Brian McLaren again whom I respect a great deal & whose writings have challenged me & my faith immensely. We’ve hung out before but with our collaboration project with him & YouthWorker Circuit it seems we cross paths a lot, even though he’s interacting more with Kevin on that one. He’s always incredibly gracious with people whether presenting or conversing which makes me a huge fanboy.

We were down in Hoover this week as Courtney is in the hospital & we are all rallying. Nick had a baseball game so we all headed over to cheer him on and then goof-off ourselves. Brooks loves to play with his cousins if you can’t tell.
