Day 11: Checking in late with our little man, we checked to boys out of school so we could make this a full family visit. He’s doing well. Most notably he was moved to the less intensive side of the NICU. He gave back his weight gain from yesterday, but he’s still off his oxygen flow & lights seem to be a distant past. Mom will get to hold little man for a bit the boys can give him a high five. A fun exciting day. This here is a photo of Rhys explaining Beyblades. Day 10: “Look mom, one less tube!”. The doctors had their big rounds this morning so we had to wait a bit to see little man. Much to our surprise he is now off his oxygen flow & was doing just fine. He also gained another 30 grams so he can claim a whopping 2lbs 10oz. He is also off the photo therapy lights, no sunglasses bro, but we expected that one. Lil man is chilling outside his incubator with mom for a bit. Then he gets a visit from his grammies who is celebrating 60 years today. Yay Whit! Sad to report. After yesterday’s update we watched a mother and family come in to say their last good byes to their little girl. Not sure what was exactly wrong. Best we could tell was she was so tiny tiny that her body wasn’t developed enough to gain weight. As great as our newborn medicine field is these days it is a sad reality that not everyone gets to go home with their newborns. Prayers for Baby “L” and her family. I can’t imagine. Day 9: We were hoping to see a little weight gain today and were throughly excited to see that happen. That’s two days in a row of gaining weight so hopefully we are on the ‘getting big’ trajectory now. Still wearing our sunglasses, but it is actually sunny outside today so it fits. Yet another nurse has mentioned that we will have our hands full with this little guy. We will take it. #nicu #nicubaby #preemie #boyslife

Day 8: was not sure this was gonna happen. Arrived today to find lil man back on the ‘sunshine’. His bilirubin count was up a bit, so we thought we’d have to wait a day or two. Doctor (who has been wonderful), however, gave the go ahead to do an hour of skin to skin time with mom.

Day 7: lil man heard the Titans were playing today and has fallen into a deep sleep. Titans will do that to ya. He actually has been resting well. Got some great reports today that his IV tube will come out sometime today and we may get to hold him. Would post a photo of that if we were not likely going to be topless 😳. Prayers for Whit’s suite mate. Baby boy “J” moved in yesterday and is a tiny tiny tike. Lots of care going his way. #boyslife #preemie #nicu #nicubaby
